Bio

Chris brings his extensive aviation experience to the firm with over 37 years of federal service, including 12 years of service in the United States Air Force and a 25-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), 13 of which he served as Regional Counsel for the FAA’s New England Region. As Regional Counsel, he oversaw attorneys and paralegals addressing a wide range of legal issues including regulatory enforcement and interpretations, airport grant questions, noise litigation, federal contracts issues and aircraft certification, including unmanned aircraft systems. He retired from the FAA in June 2015 and has since been enjoying the world of private practice.

Chris undoubtedly brings a passion for aviation and remains a very accomplished pilot. He started his aviation career in the United States Air Force flying F-4 Phantom aircraft in Europe and later served as a flight instructor for the U.S. Air Force. Chris is currently an active flight instructor in the Boston area, holding ratings as a CFI in single and multi-engine aircraft and instruments. Chris also holds a remote pilot operator certificate for small UAS. Chris also volunteers for Above the Clouds, giving children who are seriously ill, disabled or under served the chance to experience the wonder of small aircraft flight.

Chris recently had articles published in the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association Journal and the NATA’s Aviation Business Journal on the FAA’s investigation of potential enforcement matters. Chris also co-authors the Annotated Guide to Massachusetts Evidence, an essential litigation title for trial lawyers, using the structure of the Federal Rules of Evidence to give the Massachusetts evidence case law useable organization. Chris has woven his passion for aviation into a satisfying law career that provides him with a unique perspective on the civil aviation landscape. He provides valuable insight and assistance with the firm’s aviation matters, specifically with regulatory enforcement, pilot and aircraft certifications and airport business matters.
